Vietnam Uses 21.5M Tons of Cement in H1
Cement companies in Vietnam were forecast to sell 21.5 million tons of cement in the first half this year, an on-year rise of 7.1 per cent, said Vu Van Hiep, vice general director of the Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem).
In June, the country’s total cement consumption was estimated at 3.2 million tons, added Mr Hiep.
Cement production firms in Vietnam were projected to make 21.8 million tons in the first half, up 24.1 per cent on-year, said the Government’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
The country produced 4.1 million tons of cement in June, up 36.5 per cent on-year, reported the GSO.
Vietnam is estimated to use between 44 million and 45 million tons of cement this year, while the cement sector’s total designed capacity will reach 50 million and its mobilized capacity will be between 45 million and 46 million tons. (GSO June 2009, chinhphu.vn)
