Vietnam is estimated to consume up to 900,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) this year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said Jul 12.

On average, the country’s LPG demand is forecast to hit 74,000 ton per month during this year, the ministry said.

Domestic producers will be capable to supply a total of 52,000 ton of LPG per month, easing the imports.

Specifically, Dinh Co gas processing plant, formerly Vietnam’s sole gas processor, is able to supply 30 per cent of the national demand with a month production of between 22,000 tons and 23,000 tons.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s first oil refinery is expected to produce 26,000 tons of LPG per month when it runs at its full capacity.

Between January and June, Vietnam is also estimated to have imported 397,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) valued at US$191 million to feed domestic demand. (www.thongtinthuongmai.vn))
