Vietnam-China Bridge Across Red River Scheduled for Trial in September
The Vietnam-China border bridge across the Red River linking the border gates of Lao Cai, Vietnam, with Ha Khau, China, will be opened to traffic on trial base in early September this year.
The bridge, which is 295 meters in length, has a total investment of US$10 million. Construction on the bridge started in June 2006 and was completed at the end of last year.
The bridge, the first across the Red River connecting Vietnam and China, will be an important link in the economic corridor running through Hai Phong-Ha Noi-Lao Cai in Vietnam to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province in China.
The bridge will reduce travel time Kunming to Hanoi by car to 13 hours. (New Hanoi)
