Vietnam Earns US$10.2B from Agro-Forestry, Seafood Exports in Jan-August

Exports of agricultural, forestry and seafood products totaled US$10.2 billion between January and August, up 7.9% against the same period last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said August 28.
 
Of the total value, shipments of agricultural products brought in $5.59 billion, accounting for 22%. The figure, however, fell 9.4% from a year earlier as export prices had decreased sharply despite considerable rises in export volume.
 
The ministry said the country’s pepper exports increased 46.8% to 96,000 tons, coffee beans rose 17% to 848,000 tons, cashew nuts up 6% to 115,000 tons and rice up 43% to 4.7 million tons in the period.
 
Forestry exports also witnessed an on-year decrease of 15.2% to $1.7 billion in the period while seafood exports dropped by 7.9% to $2.65 billion.
 
This year, the country is expected to earn $14 billion from exports of agricultural, forestry and seafood products, equal to that of the 2008. (Young People)
