Vietnam Licenses 74 Foreigners to Trade Local Shares in August

Vietnam’s Securities Depository Center announced that it granted securities trading codes to 74 foreign investors in August, including 20 institutions and 54 individuals.
 
The new traders during the month raised the total number to 13,213, including 1,070 institutions and 12,143 individuals by the end of August, the center said.
 
The Vietnam Association of Financial Investors (VAFI) estimated that foreigners have held US$5 billion worth of Vietnam stocks.
 
Overseas investors bought a net value of VND2.98 trillion (US$167.2 million) worth of local shares as of August 31, with VND620.776 billion in August.
 
The country’s stock benchmark, VN-Index, has jumped 68.7% so far this year. (www.vsd.org.vn))
