Woolworths, one of Australia’s leading retail groups, is seeking Vietnamese partners to provide goods for the supermarket chains of Woolworths and Big W in Australia.

The group is keen on partnering with Vietnamese apparel, footwear and interior decorations suppliers, who had exported goods to large retailers in Australia such as Wal-Mart, Tesco, Carrefour, Target, K-Mart.

The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia will help Woolworths to select trade partners.

In March, the group’s general director Mark John conducted a 10-day visit to Vietnam to negotiate with local businesses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to purchase Vietnamese products for its chain of supermarkets across Australia.

Established in 1924, Woolworths has to date operated over 700 supermarkets across Australia, serving 13 million customers per week.

The group’s sales reached AUD42 billion ($36.77 billion) last year. (Vietnamplus)
