The government of Vietnam has decided to advance VND582 billion ($32.629 million) for a project to supply electricity to households in central highlands Vietnam, according to the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN).

The funding is part of the country’s state budget plans for 2010 and 2011.

EVN, the project investor, must bring electricity to 72,226 more households in 852 hamlets in the region by year-end.

Packages of the project in Dak Lak and Kon Tum provinces are stagnant due to site clearance, said Tran Dinh Nhan, deputy general director of Power Company No. 3, a unit of EVN, which is directly implementing the project.

The project approved by the government in 2006 with initial capital of worth VND1.1 trillion. (Labor)
