ITA Group Allowed to Relocate Vietnam Biggest Power Center
Tan Tao Group (ITA Group) is allowed to relocate the 4,400-MW Kien Luong power center to a polder in the southern province of Kien Giang province, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam.
The move is aimed at lowering investment of the power center.
Its former location will be a venue to build a water reservoir, accommodations for foreign experts and offices.
The center is estimated to cost a total of VNDUS$6.7 billion and comprises three power plants of the 1,200-MW Kien Luong 1, 1,200-MW Kien Luong 2, and 2,000-MW Kien Luong 3.
The center is due for groundbreaking in 2009 with the first operation in 2013.
The power plants in the center are estimated to consume up to 10 million tons of coal a year when fully operational 2016. (Vietstock)
