GTZ, EC Sign Agreement to Support Vietnam’s Health Sector

On November 27 in Hanoi, Ambassador Sean Doyly, Head of the European Commission (EC) Delegation to Vietnam, and Dr. Guenter Riethmacher, Chief Representative of German Organisation for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) signed an agreement to cooperating in executing “Health Sector Capacity Support Project”.

 

EU will grant US$22 million to carry out this project in 15 provinces. Apart from bilateral health cooperation programmes between Germany and Vietnam, Germany will supply 20 % of the EU’s total expenses for Vietnam.

 

In Thanh Hoa and Yen Bai provinces, Germany has assisted these localities to consolidate the local medical system. In the future, these established cooperation structures will be used to implement new projects of the EU. This will simplify cooperation for all related sides.
