On October 19 in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, President of the National Committee for ASEAN 2010, held a ceremony to introduce the official symbol and website for ASEAN 2010.

The logo for ASEAN 2010 was designed by painter Ngo Anh Co. The idea for him is manifested through the symbol of a ‘three-winged pinwheel’, also known as a simple game imbued with Vietnamese culture and an indicator of a flexible and developing ASEAN bloc.

The logo with three intertwining circles also represents solidarity in ASEAN in parallel with expanding relationship with partners outside ASEAN.

The logo will be used at all conferences and activities related to ASEAN to be held in Vietnam in 2010 and will be used for other sporting, tourism, culture and arts activities.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem emphasises that the ASEAN 2010 chairmanship of Vietnam presents the role and position of an innovative and integrative Vietnam, an active and responsible member ready to contribute more to an increasingly strong and closely united ASEAN.

The successful logo design and website design contest for ASEAN 2010 had contributed to the good start the year when Viet Nam would assume the chairmanship of ASEAN 2010.

The official website for ASEAN 2010 is www.asean2010.vn. Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that it was necessary to broadcast the logo effectively and update the website for ASEAN 2010 at http://www.asean2010.vn/ with diversified information about Vietnam’s chairmanship.

The launching had also helped to disseminate information and promote Vietnam and ASEAN 2010.
With user-friendly interface, rich content displayed in Vietnamese style, the website will be serve the Vietnam’s chairmanship of ASEAN 10, which takes place in January 2010.
