Recalling the time the company operated in the centrally planned economy and subsidy mechanism from 1963 - 1989, Director Dam said: “The capital of the company was very small during that period, business targets were unclear, mainly serving the Mechanical Construction Union. But, this period left major spiritual values. Scores of construction machines and even war tanks were repaired by the company, serving the combat against invaders and the construction of the country. That was the period of pride and the tradition of overcoming difficulties of the company.”
Since 1990, the company’s business operations were continuously expanded. In the first 10 years, the annual growth was 50 percent on average and the rate was 30 percent per annum in the following years. the owner’s equity increased more than 120 times. In the 1990s, many cement plants were built in the country but such materials as grinding balls, scale-boards, partitions were completely imported. With the ambition of replacing imported goods, in 1998, the company invested in DISAMATIC automatic foundry lines imported from Denmark to turn out high-quality products. Thus, the company’s products quickly won the trust of customers and occupied 70 percent of market shares in the cement sector. Annually, the company earns US$2 million from exporting its products to Japan, South Korea, Italia, the United States, Canada, Thailand and other nations.

The product is used for construction projects, shipbuilding materials, engine covers, etc. Production lines, imported from South Korea and Japan, are equipped with electrostatic painting and/or E.D coating and/or film covering systems. DAA-trademarked products are being used for high-rise buildings which require high technical and aesthetic specifications.

The 300-hectare Thang Long Industrial Park I in Ha Noi invested by Dong Anh Mechanical Company and Sumimoto Group has leased out all areas to more than 50 Japanese investors and nearly 40,000 labourers. The company is now working with Sumitomo to develop the Thang Long Industrial Park II in Pho Noi (Hung Yen province). Both industrial parks satisfy the ISO14.000 environment system.
