Vietnam Airlines Aims Revenues of VND32T This Year
Vietnam Airlines targets to earn revenues of VND32 trillion (US$1.731 billion) in 2010, up 30.63% from a year ago, the carrier’s General Director Pham Ngoc Minh said.
In the year, the national carrier expects to transport 11 million passengers, up 15% on-year.
Vietnam Airlines plans to build a fleet of 14 fuel-efficient ATR 72-500 airplanes by late 2010 for short routes between Hanoi and northern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta and flights to Laos and Cambodia.
It will become an official member of the SkyTeam alliance next June, making it the sole Southeast Asian airlines to enter the alliance.
Vietnam Airlines made a pretax profit of VND150 billion on revenue of VND23.74 trillion in 2009, down 37.5% and 10.78% against 2008 respectively. (Vneconomy)
