Vietnam Corp, Itochu Discuss High-speed Railway Project
Vietnam Railway Corporation had a meeting with Japan-based Itochu Group on January 11 to talk about the construction of a Japan’s Shinkansen-style railway connecting Hanoi with its airport.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from Parsons Brinckerhoff Company and Oriental Consultancy Ltd. Co..
The 47 km double-track route will link Hanoi’s three stations of Ha Dong, Ngoc Hoi and Van Dien with Noi Bai International Airport.
The railway, which includes eight stations, will allow trains to travel at an average speed of 60 km per hour, the newspaper added, giving no the investment value.
Vietnam has also decided to use Japan's Shinkansen technology to build a US$56-billion high-speed railway running from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, according to a report by the Kyodo News Agency. (Transport)
