Vietnam PM Urges FDI, ODA Disbursement
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged ministries, agencies and localities to speed up the disbursements of foreign direct investment (FDI) and official development assistance (ODA) from this month.
PM Dung’s call followed news Vietnam disbursed only US$129 million in aid in the first two months, fulfilling 5.2% of the full-year target, the government said on its website.
Dung asked for reviewing projects that use ODA and FDI sources as part of efforts to accelerate the disbursements.
During the period, Vietnam disbursed US$1.1 billion in FDI, up 10% on year whilst it attracted the total pledged FDI of US$1.78 billion, down 72.7% from a year earlier, the Ministry of Planning and Investment said.
As of last end-December, Vietnam had nearly 11,000 valid FDI projects capitalized at around US$177 billion, it said. (chinhphu.vn)
