Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has agreed the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Vietnam to organize the 14th ASEAN Finance Ministers Meeting in Nha Trang City of the central province of Khanh Hoa on April 5-8.

The event is part of a series of important high-level ASEAN meetings to be hosted by Vietnam during its chairmanship year in 2010, the government said on its website Mar 24.

On the sideline of the event, an international forum will be held in Hanoi on April 26-27 by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Korean and Japanese Embassies in Vietnam.

Delegates will focus on appraising financial cooperation programs to boost payment and improve risk management, consolidating economic management mechanisms in ASEAN and East Asia, and reviewing the operations of working groups involved with the Asian Bond Market Initiative (ABMI).

They will also review the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization (CMIM) Agreement and the operations of working groups on financial service liberalization, capital markets and infrastructure funds. (chinhphu.vn)
