The 4th ASEAN Economic Community Council Meeting (AEC-4) and related meetings will be taken place in Danang on the occasion.
The meetings are expected to attract 18 economic ministers from 10 ASEAN countries and eight dialogue partners, namely China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, the EU and Russia.
The AEM-42 is the most important annual event of the ASEAN Economic Pillar in 2010, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Cam Tu said at a press briefing on August 10.
The meeting, titled "ASEAN Economic Community: A Community for Dynamic and Sustainable Growth", affirms the ASEAN's commitments towards economic growth and a stable and sustainable development, Tu added.
The 42nd AEM will be opportunity for economic ministers to discuss strategies and measures to promote economic cooperation within the block towards the establishment of the ASEAN economic community by 2015, he noted.
On this occasion, ASEAN and dialogue partners’ economic ministers will assess the implementation of free trade agreements and discuss measures to boost negotiations of new trade agreements.
As a president, Vietnam has proposed some initiatives to narrow development gap between Vietnam and faster developed ASEAN nations such as expanding dialogues with firms in making regional policy and conducting the first consultation with economic ministers of Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. (Vovnews)
