The day Le Van Dung left Phu Son prison to return to life, no one could imagine that seven years later he would run a business well-known for gem paintings production in the gems painting circle of Vietnam. Leaving prison, he and his wife went to the land of Luc Yen (Yen Bai). With a little money collected by his friends, he determined to start with gems. It is these grim years that gave him invaluable knowledge about gems, and brought him to painting and, later, creating the very famous brand of Dung Tan gems paintings.
Affirming brand
To start, he spent time searching everywhere possible to study about painting work. Thus, his first products were warmly welcomed by customers. So he bravely built an establishment producing gem paintings, which has grown to a large scale. When the production scale of his establishment was no longer sufficient to meet market demand, Dung Tan Gems Paintings Co., Ltd was created. High-quality product, nice, new and unique patterns is the foundation of his business. Through the skilled hands of processing workers, the statue of Maitreya, the Buddha, and paintings of landscapes of the country with colourful precious glittering miraculous gems has conquered even sophisticated customers. Products are sold right after they are finished. From being well-known in Thai Nguyen, gradually Dung Tan products have dominated the domestic market, and to Russia and some other Southeast Asian countries.
Strong management and effective utilisation of raw materials to create appropriate products have brought success for the company, with revenue of approximate VND ten billion each year. His Dung Tan brand has been increasingly successful. Not satisfied to produce the usual gem paintings, he encourages the Company’s skilled craftsmen to study other lines of painting and processes various statues in many different kinds of precious stones. The creativity of craftsmen and eternal vitality of natural gemstones have created sustainable works of art.
To continue to make these ideas reality, he invested in a new establishment with 1ha for business development on gems and ornamental plants. Apart from gemstone paintings, the Company also offers products related to gemstone such as semi-precious stones and feng shui stones. Here, he has just purchased a sapphire stone weighing 28 tonnes, which is considered Vietnam's largest sapphire.
A heart for society
Gemstones have changed his life. From being an infamous vagabond, now he is a businessman whose heart is for society. He spends all his time and life working to compensate for the wasted period of time, and participates in charitable works without hesitation. He and his wife care and provide shelter for babies born in prison, and are happy to be called lovely names like Dad Dung or Mum Oanh. He said, “Gems have awakened me. Although small stones were buried by garbage, regardless of natural changes, they still shine with eternal beauty. "
With a passion for colourful stones, he loves stones and secretly admires natural tiny stones with natural and durable colours. Stones are mined from the earth, and then human hands and minds make them into pretty pictures. He said: "The experience of life has helped me a lot on the business road. It is the painstaking patience, the learning and studying to understand the needs of human life. The more the economy develops, the more the demand of human beings for beauty - and gem paintings are special products to meet that demand for beauty.”
