Vietnam Exports Nearly 5M Tons of Rice: Association
Vietnamese firms have earned US$2.11 million from exporting nearly five million tons of rice so far this year, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).
The export value increased US$90 million despite equality in volume against the same period of last year, the association said.
Vietnam’s total export volume is expected to peak record highs at between 6.2 million and 6.5 million by the year’s end, weighted by the world soaring demand.
The global increased demand has driven up rice prices in the domestic market, the association said.
Currently, IR 50404 unhusked rice is selling for VND4.8 million-VND5.0 million a ton, while long-grain rice is traded at VND5.2 million and VND5.4 million a ton. (Youth)
