Vietnam Acclaims More German Investors: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the Vietnamese government would give more favorable conditions to attract more German investors to the country, including those from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state. 
 
PM Dung made the statement at a reception to visiting Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Governor Erwin Sellering in Hanoi on Sept 14.
 
Governor Erwin was quoted by the Vietnam News Agency as saying the state’s 60 leading enterprises are keen on the Southeast Asian country’s investment environment.
 
The guest expects the cooperation in trade, investment, education-training and maritime would be expanded in the years to come.
 
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is located in the north-east of Germany, of which main economic factors are traditionally maritime industry, agriculture and tourism and potentially biotechnology, timber and information technology. 
 
Vietnam and Germany mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
 
There are 100,000 Vietnamese people and 3,000 students living and studying in the western European country. 
 
Trade between Vietnam and Germany stood at US$1.78 billion in the first half of this year, including the former’s trade surplus of US$290.97 million.
 
The full-year trade is forecast to reach around US$5 billion, including the Southeast Asian nation’s trade surplus of between US$2 billion and US$2.1 billion. (chinhphu.vn)
