Within the 35th year celebrations of Vietnam – Germany diplomatic relations, the Oktoberfest – the largest fair in Germany – will be organized in the two big cities of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi under the patronage of the German Embassy in Vietnam and the German General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, the Germany Business Association (GBA).
The Oktoberfest Saigon 2010 will be organized at Windsor Plaza Hotel on 08, 09, and 10 October 2010 and 13, 14, 15 and 16 October 2010 and at Hanoi Daewoo Hotel on 22 and 23 October 2010. The Obtoberfest 2010 marks the largest cultural event of this year in Vietnam.
The Oktoberfest in Munich has become an iconic trademark around the world. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest definitely shows the best of German “Gemuetlichkeit” (Coziness) in a traditional Bavarian beer-garden atmosphere, with traditional fresh-brewed Oktoberfest-beer, German food delicacies and popularly Bavarian folk music, which let people to sing in chores, swing the bee mugs for toasting, each other’s hands and dance together with great enjoyment.
The Oktoberfest 2010 is expected to attract around 14.000 visitors in Ho Chi Minh City and around 3000 visitors in Hanoi, which makes it not only the largest German cultural event in Vietnam but also one of the largest events across South East Asia. Mr. Alexander Bischoff, Chairman of GBA said: “we are proud that the Oktoberfest in Vietnam has become so popular amongst Vietnamese and the foreign community in Vietnam, which is a culture bridge of bringing people together with excitement”.
This is the 4th time that the Oktoberfest is organized in Ho Chi Minh City. Last year, the Oktoberfest 2009 attracted more than 12.000 visitors with the peak of over 2000 participants of every event day. According to Alex Bischoff, with the successful organization of the Oktoberfest 2009 that left a very deep impression on the public, this year’s Oktoberfest is promising to be bigger and more exciting with an additional day added for celebration. The continuity of this cross-cultural event will be overwhelmed with games and funs, outstanding delicious German food and brew in this year biggest event.
In addition, participants of the Oktoberfest 2010 will enjoy the authentic German music from the German’s number one band “Trenkwalder” and go loud with all-you-can-eat cuisine and all-you-can-drink German Obtoberfest beer. Besides, many more entertainment activities are also organized to cheer the participant crowds such as Bavarian games and a lucky draw every night.
