The more society develops, the more diverse demand is. Products and services must be rich in forms, high quality, reasonably priced and not negatively impacts users. Light and lighting are a natural demand of human beings; hence, the demand for lighting products is high.
As a leading energy development company in Vietnam, Kim Dinh Green Energy Joint Stock Company has taken the bold step of signing a cooperation agreement with South Korea’s Fawoo Technology Company to set up a US$12 million joint venture company called Fawoo – KIDI in March 2010 to manufacture and distribute LED lamps in Vietnam. The factory, located at the Saigon Hi-tech Park, R&D Centre (SHTP lABS), Block 3, N2 Street, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will provide a diverse range of energy-efficient, environment-friendly LED energy saving lamps for various purposes like indoor, street, fishing and fireproof lighting.
LED, or light emitting diodes in full, consists of a chip of semiconducting material doped with impurities to create a P-N junction. Depending on the level of luminous efficacy released and wave lengths of light emitted, LEDs have different colours. LED is the perfect combination of incandescent light bulb (for high-quality lighting, but heavy power consumption) and high pressure sodium, or HPS, (for high lighting efficiency, but low luminous efficacy). The advantages of LED lamps over conventional lamps include lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, greater durability, higher reliability and less environmental impact. The lifetime of a LED lamp is up to 50,000 hours.
With product research and development centres in South Korea, FAWOOKIDI will offer perfect LED lighting systems, in terms of both technology and design, and has great significance for energy solutions in Vietnam and the world. This is evidenced by a series of super energy-saving LED lamps developed by FAWOOKIDI like Highbay LED and Lumix Das LED.
Highbay LED and conventional Highbay
Highbay is a terminology describing a form of lamps suitable for workshops, warehouses, garages, showrooms, reception halls, railway stations and airports. Lit spaces have ceiling heights from 5 metres upwards and require high and wide lighting areas. Compared with traditional Highbay lamps, High Bay LED lamps not only provide brighter and higher quality light, but also have 4-6 times longer lifetime and save up to 60 % of energy consumption, thus costs are reduced four times. Thus, replacing traditional Highbay lights using HPS or metal halide lamps with Highbay LED ones cuts costs, maintenance and operating expense while it is safer to use and more environmentally friendly.
midas LED and conventional Lumidas
Lumix das is also a terminology denoting indoor and outdoor lamps with diverse, elegant and compact design. This is becoming a trend. LED has many benefits, meets strict requirements for quality, and overcomes the weaknesses of incandescent and fluorescent compact lamps. LED is very sturdy and resistant to heavy shock or shaking while incandescent bulbs are easily broken. Specially, LED has much lower CO2 emissions than traditional lamps. (See chart)

The presence of incandescent, fluorescent bulbs, fluorescent compact and finally LED lamps reveals the evolution and development of lighting science and technology.
FAWOOKIDI continues to strengthen its global leading position in developing anti-fire and non-explosive LED lamps (satisfied EX2 certificate). This type of lamp uses direct current, thus the index of protection (IP) is many times higher than HPS and fluorescent lamps.
With the capacity of a leading company, KIDI’s energy-saving products are present in many market segments, from civil works to key projects, from urban zones in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang to South America. This reaffirms the right direction of Kim Dinh Green Energy Joint Stock Company on the road to light up dreams.
Mr Le Trong Dinh, President of KIDI’s Board of Directors, said: “The development of LED technology is said to change many millions of lives on this planet, whether rich or poor. With its capacity and resources, FAWOOKIDI will bring super energy-efficient, environment-friendly and adaptable LED lamps to the market. Apart from providing indoor, outdoor, street, tunnel and anti-fire lighting, the joint venture company will turn out many super energy-saving lighting products for all social and economic applications.”
