Established in 2000, the Swiss Business Association (SBA) in Vietnam aims to promote business, economic and cultural ties with the host country. Besides offering interesting and informative events, the SBA also actively represents the interests of the Swiss community and promotes business ties between Vietnam and Switzerland.

In close coordination with the economic section of Swiss Embassy, the SBA engages in active dialogue with the Vietnamese government to create favourable conditions for trade and investment. Together with other business associations, the SBA participates in the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF), a platform for exchange of views between the Vietnamese government and the business community in Vietnam.

In 2005, the SBA became a member of the Association of Swiss Living Abroad (ASO), an active lobby for the interests of the “5th Switzerland” (the first four being the four linguistic groups inside Switzerland). Topics of concern for Swiss living abroad top the agenda of its two yearly meetings. The last conference in March passed resolutions on the introduction of e-voting, maintaining voluntary social/invalid insurance benefits, and against reducing the network of diplomatic representation. Members of the Swiss parliament, government and political parties also participate in the discussions.

Numerous conferences and roundtables on a broad range of topics provide a platform for networking, exchanging information and fostering ties among the Swiss community abroad. Members and their families also enjoy social gatherings around the year, such as the Swiss National Day, the William Tell Games, and Santa Claus – an excellent opportunity to make friends with Swiss from all walks of life.
