Taiwan Employs 25,647 Vietnam Workers in Jan-Nov
Taiwan received 25,647 Vietnamese guest workers in the first eleven months of this year, taking the lead among the Southeast Asia’s foreign labor markets, said the Overseas Labor Management Department under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
The figure accounted for 32.5% of the total number of Vietnamese workers sent abroad during the period.
Currently, around 80,000 Vietnamese workers are working in Taiwan, ranking the second after Indonesia with 146,189 workers. They mostly work as domestic helps, construction workers and sailors.
The MoLISA targets to send 85,000 workers overseas this year with a focus on sending workers from 62 local poor districts. The ministry, however, is meeting with difficulties fulfilling the goal. (VNS)
