Vietnam Seafood Exports to Rise 14% in 2010: VASEP
Vietnam’s seafood exports are estimated to rise 14% on year to $4.8 billion in 2010, the Dai Doan Ket newspaper reported, citing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Shrimp retains its top position since shipment of shrimp products accounted for 40.7% of the country’s total seafood export revenues, the association said.
Local firms are expected to export 200,000 tons of shrimp, valued at $1.8 billion, to 90 countries and territories worldwide this year. In the first 11 months, shrimp exports brought in $1.68 billion.
Pangasius fish ranked the second despite turbulences. Vietnam annually exports 650,000 tons of pangasius fish and targets higher at 800,000 tons a year for 2011-2015. (Great Unity)
