Vietnam Succeeds in Chairing ASEAN in 2010: Int’l Expert

Vietnam gained a solid diplomatic success in 2010 when the country chaired the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), said Ernest Bower, Senior Adviser and Director of the Southeast Asia Program in the U.S.’s Center for Strategic International., Senior Adviser and Director of the Southeast Asia Program in the U.S.’s Center for Strategic International.
 
Ernest Bower was quoted by the Vietnamese government’s website as saying that the the second ASEAN Defense Minister Meeting (ADMM) and the first ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) can be considered as two biggest successes for the bloc’s presidency during last year.
 
Vietnam has proven with good organization and adequate attention to prioritized issues of the bloc, the American specialist said, adding that in his opinion, all the ASEAN’s members agreed Vietnam did effectively the roles of the bloc’s chairman. (chinhphu.vn)
