Gov’t Calls for Fast Development of Coastal Economic Zones
PM Nguyen Tan Dung has assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to propose proper mechanisms and policies to spur the building and development of coastal economic zones.
MPI will also present a revised Master Planning Scheme for coastal economic zones towards 2020 to the Government chief.
Since the first one-Chu Lai Zone- was established in 2003, Vietnam has 14 coastal economic zones with total area of 627,633 hectares.
Currently, the Government is considering adding the economic zones of Dong Nam (Quang Trị Province), Thai Binh (Thai Binh Province), and Ninh Co (Nam Dinh Province) to the Planning Scheme.
