About 300 executives from local and foreign information and communication technology (ICT) businesses and senior officials from the Vietnamese Government will participate in the first Vietnam ICT Summit slated for June 9 – 10.

The President of the World Information Technology and Services Alliances (WITSA) will also attend the event.

During the two-day summit, delegates will be introduced to Vietnam’s ICT vision, strategy, and hear the performance of the country’s software industry and ICT sector.
There will be three separate seminars, dealing with the role of ICT in socio-economic development, policies for ITC sector development, and ITC human resource development in Vietnam.

The best Vietnamese software products and services, selected by the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA), will be honored on the occasion.

The summit, planned to be held annually, is a good chance for executives of Vietnamese ICT businesses to update visions and development trends in the field in the world outside so as to wisely design their future business strategies.

It is also part of the effort to realize the Government’s Project on turning Vietnam into a strong ICT country by 2020, said Dr. Truong Gia Binh, VINASA President at a press briefing on Wednesday.

Last year, the ICT sector earned US $16 billion in revenues, according to data released by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
