Work Starts on First Solar Cell Factory

The solar cell factory is one of the important projects contributing to Vietnam’s development and energy security, said Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai at the factory’s groundbreaking ceremony in Quang Nam Province on May 14.
 
The project has the designed capacity of 120 MW per year with a total investment of US$390 million. Built on the area of 12 ha, the project is equipped with four modules and auxiliary lines based on modern technology.
 
The factory will create 1,000 jobs for local people and export all of its products overseas.
 
The factory will produce equipments for a solar power generator in Vietnam.
 
Vietnam aims to have renewable energy accounting 5% of the total energy structures by 2015 and raise it to 8% by 2020, said the Deputy PM.
