Vietnam, Laos Expand Banking-Financial Cooperation
Comprehensive banking and financial cooperation will lay a firm foundation for Vietnam and Laos to develop other fields, said Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung at his meeting with the visiting Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Laos, Bounsong Sommalavong, in Hanoi on May 23.
He attributed both sides’ positive progress in banking and financial cooperation in general and securities market in particular to their established special traditional relationship.
The Vietnamese leader stressed the need for the two countries to boost exchanges of experience and develop long-term cooperative plans in human resource training for the banking and financial sector.
Vietnamese banks and education facilities will help train personnel for Laos in the field, affirmed Deputy PM Hung.
Deputy Governor Somamlavong said that during his visit, VietinBank and Lao Development Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding, creating new opportunities for both countries’ cooperation.
The guest said he hoped Vietnam’s sharing of experience and provision of human resource training would enable Laos to meet requirements for the development of its banking and financial sector.
