Moc Chau district in Son La province is endowed with much potential. It has Moc Chau town and Moc Chau Plantation town. The district borders Phu Yen district in the North; Laos in the West; Hoa Binh province in the Southeast; Thanh Hoa province in the South; and Bac Yen and Yen Chau districts in the Northeast. Moc Chau has the biggest and most beautiful plateaus in the North mountainous region. The district has temperate and pure climate. Especially, Moc Chau offers much natural scenery such as green Moc Chau plateau, Bat Cave (Hang Doi), five caves in On village, Dai Yem waterfall, and the pine forest in Ang village.
Local authorities have made efforts to improve administrative procedure reform, creating favourable conditions to attract investment into the region’s strong business sectors, especially tourism.

Tourism paradise
In Moc Chau, tourists will enjoy pure, fresh air in vast highlands with natural beauty, endless grass fields, green tea hills, and visit Hang Doi (also called Son Moc Huong cave). Hang Doi is located in central Moc Chau town, next to Highway 6. Tourists take 240 steps to reach the cave’s gate. Looking from the cave’s gate to the central valley, there are seven mountains like seven gemstones. From the ceiling hang colourful stalactites, many of which nearly touch the ground. In the wall there are stalactites in shapes of elephants, lions, civet, and iguana. In the front of the cave, turning right, tourists will find a stone stalactite in form of a girl who is spinning yarn. Hang Doi is a true natural architectural and artistic work, excellently built by nature.

Another attractive tourist site is Dai Yem waterfall, or also called Ban Vat. Gathering from two canyons Bo Co Lam and Bo Ta Chau in Vat village gate, Vat stream flows through Ban Vat waterfall, then merges with Sap stream to flow through Moc Chau to Yen Chau district and join the Da River. Treking back the stream, tourists will see thousands of stones in varied shapes lying in the streambed. Climbing to the top of the waterfall brings you to gorgeous varieties of vegetation. Dai Yem waterfall is most impressive from April to September. With adequate water, during this time, the width of the waterfall can expand up to 70 metres.

Leaving Dai Yem waterfall, back on highway 43 for about 600 metres, then turn into an alley to reach Ban Vat (Vat Village). Ban Vat still maintains many unique cultural features such as making brocade, traditional costumes, and houses on stilts. Especially, Het Cha festival is coloured with Thai people’s cultural features in Ang village, Dong Sang commune; enjoy songs, dances, and food on Noong Bua lake in Vat village, Muong Sang commune.

In addition, Moc Chau also has many appealing spots that cannot be ignored such as Mount Pha Luong of over 1,800 metres, whose peak is a plateau of nearly 10 hectares; Ban Ang pine forest; Chien Vien pagoda, and On village’s five newly discovered caves.

Red carpet for investors
Recently, Moc Chau has attracted much investment into projects of tourism; services; agricultural product processing; mineral exploiting and manufacturing; rubber; and organic vegetables and flowers. Moc Chau Industrial Park has welcome investors, namely Dong Duong Ha Noi Group; Tay Bac Mineral Joint Stock Company; Tien Dong Hanoi Company; Forestry Sustainable Development Joint Stock Company; Son La Rubber Joint Stock Company; Thanh Tung Son La Enterprise; Tropical Flower Joint Stock Company etc with total registered capital of thousands of billions of Vietnamese Dong. This investment achievement is built on the attention, leadership and assistance from Son La’s Provincial People’s Committee and People’s Council, and the efforts of Moc Chau’s executive committee and Authority to boost administrative procedural reform, open and create favourable conditions for investors, and well implementing land clearance for investors’ projects.

At the moment, several local enterprises have affirmed their brands in domestic and foreign markets, such as Moc Chau Tea international brand, Moc Chau Milk. Moc Chau is opening the door for enterprises to come and invest to exploit local advantages so that the district will develop faster and enterprises will obtain more success.
