JICA Helps Vietnam Strengthen Management Capacity

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) of Vietnam and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide a three-day training course for 25 officials of MoF in order to strengthen the project management capacity, as the second in a sequence of workshops on Project Cycle Management for MoF.
 
This course is the improvement from the same workshop in March for MoF, based on tailored agenda introducing basic knowledge and techniques of problem identification, project design and planning, appraisal, monitoring and evaluation, covering the whole project cycle.
 
Replying to the need and request of MoF in training the freshmen on project management which is growing year by year, the courses are made to help fresh young staff from various department of MoF, to utilize knowledge obtained through the course to meet request from MoF in managing various types of project, from that contributing further to the development and stabilization of public finance, as a part of sustainable development of the country while ensuring the quality and effectiveness of public investment and country resources.
 
Under this framework, within this fiscal year, besides the March and this June course, the next course focusing on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) will be launched in August. JICA also supported sending some MoF officials to the Philippines to have advanced project management training, in March, July and possibly September.
 
This technical assistance is implemented under the framework of agreement between MoF and JICA which is effective between March 1st, 2011 and March 31st, 2012.
