Phung Hiep Prepares for the Future

Phung Hiep district has set major tasks for its comprehensive development. Accordingly, the district will maintain its economic growth, a sustainable development in each production sector with a focus given to infrastructure development and master plan management and implementation. The district will also strive to build up a healthy outlook for its urban and rural areas, combating poverty to improve local people's living standard and improving the quality of cultural, social, educational and health care services. The district will also promote its administrative reforms, maintaining social order, political stability and national defence and security with a strong network of authorities.
The district's total output will reach VND2,244 billion (US$142.9 billion), up 10.22 per cent against the 2003 plan, with the first sector contributing VND974 billion (US$62.038 million); the second sector, VND940 billion (US$59.872 million) and the third sector, VND330 billion (US$21.019 million). Total State budget revenues will be put at VND30.04 billion (US$1.91 million) with VND22.91 billion (US$1.459 million) coming from tax revenues. Total budget expenditure will reach VND58.285 billion (US$3.712 million). Total investment capital of the district will be VND259.5 billion (US$16.528 million), up 30.46 per cent against 2003. The district will also maintain its drive towards educational universalisation with a focus given to the quality of education and the completion of junior secondary education by everybody.

In agricultural production, the district will concentrate on diversifying plants and animals to meet the market demand with stable outlets for products. Scientific and technological applications will be promoted to help reduce production and investment costs, creating products of high quality and economic effectiveness. In industrial and handicraft production, the district is developing infrastructure of industrial parks and industrial and handicraft complexes in Phung Hiep town to attract investment to increase production value and the proportion of the sector's contribution to the district's GDP. At the same time, the district will complete its master plans to create the most favourable environment for investors, seeking partners and providing support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the district to create sustainable development. For trade and tourism, Phung Hiep district will arrange and develop trade centres and markets, increase the quality of products, and build trademarks. Through these activities, the district will boost its trade promotion activities in Vietnam and foreign countries, thus helping promote socio-economic exchange. In education and training, the district will continue to promote the socialisation of education, improving the quality and effectiveness of the local educational council's activities, standardising its teachers and upgrading schools. The district will increase the quality of medical check-ups and health care services for local people, promoting disease prevention and modernising medical equipment for diagnosis and treatment. Administrative reform will be accelerated in cooperation with relevant agencies to implement its comprehensive development plans.
