“Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2011 (VME),” Vietnam’s largest and most comprehensive show for industrial parts manufacturing, is scheduled to take on September 15-17 at International Center for Exhibition in Hanoi. The exhibition, organized by Reed Tradex Company, will link 8,000 industrialists in the industrial part manufacturing sectors in Vietnam with state-of-the-art innovations and technologies of 200 exhibitors from 20 countries.

The event consists of four international exhibitions, namely InterPlas Vietnam for plastics and rubber manufacturing, InterMold Vietnam for mold and die making, Automotive Manufacturing Vietnam for automotive parts manufacturing, and Automation Vietnam on industrial automation and assembly technologies.

On the occasion, Vietnam Business Forum reporter Nam Pham conducts an interview with Mr. Chainarong Limpkittisin, Managing Director of Reed Tradex, ASEAN’s leading exhibition organizer.

What are the highlights of VME 2011 compared to VME 2010?
VME 2011 is co-located with the exhibitions of “Industrial Components and Subcontracting Vietnam 2011” organized by Hanoi Trade Promotion Center, and “SI Exhibition: The 4th Vietnam-Japan Exhibition on Supporting Industries in Hanoi” organized by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The grand co-location will ensure that exhibitors and visitors to the events will get good opportunities to expand their networks and shape businesses the way they aim for. The SI Exhibition includes 114 booths, of which 64 booths belong to Japanese industrial spare parts buyers who want to find suppliers and manufacturers in Vietnam. This is a great chance for Vietnamese suppliers to seek Japanese customers of automobile parts, motorcycles, electric appliances, electronics, and others.

Industrial Components and Subcontracting Vietnam 2011 will feature 60 Vietnamese companies, mainly in the automobile, electronics, metalworking, plastics and information and communications industries which believe to enormously support the thriving industrial sector in Vietnam.

How important is Japanese participation in VME 2011 in particular and Japanese investment in Vietnam in general?
The participation of Japanese exhibitors, including equipment and spare parts buyers and sellers, will surely make VME 2011 great success, strongly benefit Vietnamese industrialists, and partly help develop Vietnam’s supporting industries. At present, many Japanese companies are in need of expanding their businesses and recovering production, therefore, this is a good time for Vietnamese suppliers to take advantages to sell products to right Japanese customers. I believe that Japanese investment in Vietnam will still increase in the coming time, especially in the fields of manufacturing and supporting industries.

How does VME 2011 fulfill demands of Vietnam’s industries?
Reed Tradex really wants to help promote Vietnam’s industrial sector. Therefore, this year’s show is considered the only manufacturing machinery and technology event and parts marketplace that answer all your needs for bigger business. It promises to be an interactive ground facilitating Vietnamese industrialists to discover new technologies that will offer the next level of productivity, collect new knowledge and new ideas, and expand business network.

We estimate that over the next four or five years, Vietnam’s industrial production value will sharply raise, especially the sales of automobiles and motorcycles, so focusing on the development of supporting industries is very crucial for Vietnam’s spare parts suppliers.

Can you reveal the long-term business strategy of Reed Tradex in Vietnam from now to take advantage of ASEAN Economic Community by 2015?
Southeast Asia countries are moving towards ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015 which is expected to bring lots of benefits to the countries. Countries with available advantages in manufacturing and industrial sectors will be stronger if they take advantages from AEC. Vietnam has potential and advantages in the fields of tourism services, industrial and agricultural product exports, energy, construction, food processing, and we think that supporting industries will continue to develop in the future.

In Vietnam, Reed Tradex faces a shortage of displaying areas because fair and exhibition centers are small or not suitable displaying heavy machineries. However, we plan to organize more exhibitions in the above fields because Reed Tradex is ready to support local manufacturers to introduce their products and services to the world.
