Algeria Seeks Telecom Cooperation with Vietnam
An Algerian government and business delegation paid a three-day official visit to Vietnam, ending September 21, to seek cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese ICT companies. Visiting ATM Bobilis, Algeria Telecom and Algerian Space Agency met with Vietnamese ICT partners like VNPT, Viettel and CMC.
Mr Moussa Benhamadi, Algerian Minister of Post, Information and Communication Technologies, said Algeria hopes to cooperate with Vietnamese businesses to expand its fibre networks. In addition, the African nation wants to invite Vietnamese companies to participate in building and developing 3G networks there. It is currently operating two earth observation satellites (launched 2010) and another scheduled to be launched into orbit in 2013. Vietnam already has satellites and Algeria hopes to cooperate with Vietnamese firms to train space technicians and experts.
Mr Moussa Banhamadi added that Algeria now has two post training institutes and they are ready to welcome Vietnamese post students to study and research there.
