The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized on October 18 the Conferring Ceremony of the 7th JICA Recognition Award to two Vietnamese counterparts for their meritorious contribution towards JICA’s international cooperation activities.

The two awardees are H.E.Mr Vo Hong Phuc, former Minister and Dr Ho Quang Minh, former Director General of the Foreign Economic Relations Department, Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), which is the focal point for JICA’s operation in Vietnam.
“JICA does appreciate what HE. Mr Phuc and Dr. Minh have done for JICA as well as Japan-Vietnam overall economic cooperation during the past 20 years. We have been working closely with each other in an open and frank manner which has great help to improve Japan’s ODA in Vietnam. I deeply agree on what they have often told us that we have been cooperating with each other like brothers. I feel myself lucky to have them as counterparts” – said Mr Tsuno Motonori, JICA Vietnam Chief Representative, who has been working with the two awardees since 1992.

JICA Recognition Award is a JICA annual event held on the occasion of the anniversary commemorating the foundation of JICA. This year, JICA established a new award expressing appreciation to persons and organizations that has made significant and durable contribution to the overall management of JICA activities. 21 persons and 4 organizations from all over the world have been selected. HE.Mr Vo Hong Phuc and Dr. Ho Quang Minh are the first awardees of this Award category.
