LICOGI 14: Sustainable Development

LICOGI 14 Joint Stock Company is a strong member company of Infrastructure Construction and Investment Corporation (LICOGI), which is administered by the Ministry of Construction. The company was formerly the Mechanical Construction Enterprise No. 4 set up in 1982 with the main functions of levelling construction sites and building foundation works for Lao Cai apatite ore factory in Lao Cai province. After 30 years of construction and development, powered by its dynamism and acumen and a strong ability to grasp opportunities, LICOGI 14 has grown with big projects in the northwest of Vietnam.
Asserting brand name
General Director Pham Gia Ly said construction and installation are traditional operations of LICOGI 14. In recent years, despite limited funding arising from tightened credit policies by commercial banks and exorbitant lending interest, the company has actively explored different channels and sources to access more than VND30 billion (US$1.5 million) to purchase modern equipment. Thanks to its mastery of advanced construction technology and equipment, LICOGI 14 is capable of undertaking large-scale projects.
 
Quickly grasping good opportunities and capitalising on existing potential, LICOGI 14 has won a lot of construction bids like Hop Xuan resettlement area (Lao Cai province), prison for Lao Cai police department, levelling bid in Viet Trung iron and steel mill (Lao Cai), Provincial Road 151 from Xuan Giao to Tang Loong (Lao Cai) at a cost of VND100 billion, Hung Vuong University resettlement zone (Viet Tri City, Phu Tho province), Te Le - Nam Nong Bridge (Phu Tho), and Tan Son district roads (Phu Tho). Its performance pushed revenues up 88.4 percent in 2010. The growth is expected to be retained in 2011. Besides, the company’s reputation is built up by its guaranteed construction progress, quality and safety. Not only successful in aforesaid construction works, LICOGI 14 is also successful in building high-rise buildings, operating tower cranes and concrete mixers. The company has built two 9-storey student dormitories in Viet Tri City, Phu Tho province.
 
The company has strongly invested for sustainable development. It has commenced on construction of Minh Phuong housing infrastructure and commercial service complex project (Minh Phuoc New Urban Zone) in Viet Tri City. The nearly 60-ha project is the largest project in Phu Tho province, costing VND465.2 billion in total. It is in a prime location adjacent to Hung Vuong Avenue, National Road 32C, Thuy Van Industrial Park and is about 6 km from Hung King Temple monument complex. Minh Phuong New Urban Zone synchronously consists of modern administrative centres, schools, commercial centres, ecological lakes, and apartments for students and low-paid workers. Once completed, the 2,400-apartment complex will provide accommodations for 18,000 residents, create a new face for Viet Tri City, which is expected to become a first-grade urban zone in the near future, as well as contribute to socioeconomic development of Phu Tho province.
 
Continued market expansion
Moreover, LICOGI 14 is also an investor of Binh Minh Urban and Service Zone in Lao Cai City. The 73-ha project costs a total of VND489 billion. The company is also the founding shareholder and constructor of main items of 90-MW Bac Ha - Lao Cai hydropower plant which is expected to cost VND2,300 billion and to be connected with the national power grid in late 2011 or early 2012.
 
LICOGI 14 is the investor of the 14-MW Bao Nhai - Lao Cai hydropower plant Bao Nhai commune, Bac Ha district, in Lao Cai province. This project serves a special role in socioeconomic development of Lao Cai province in particular and the northern region in general.
 
With its systematic, prudential and centred investment strategies, the company has reaped great success in real estate, hydropower, construction, trade and service activities. The company has turned out to be an example of sustainable development in the current tough time.
