Governor General of Canada Lead Business Delegation to Vietnam
The Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada conducted a State visit toVietnam,fromNovember 16 to 19at the invitation of the President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang.
During the visit, the Governor General highlighted the important education linkages between Canada and Vietnam, and promoted trade and investment between the two countries.
The Governor General joined a panel discussion on multiculturalism at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Hanoi), delivered a keynote address on the Diplomacy of Knowledge: Education and Globalization in the 21st Century at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (Ho Chi Minh City) and attend a panel discussion on skills training at Mylan Group (Tra Vinh Province). He also met with representatives from the business community and civil society and visited projects supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Hanoi City and Soc Trang Province.
A delegation of Canadians representing a variety of fields - including education, innovation and trade promotion, and culture shared their experiences and knowledge with their Vietnamese counterparts. These exchanges provided greater visibility to bilateral co-operation in various sectors, particularly Canadian strategies for promoting education economic development.
