Vietnamese, Chinese Provinces to Build Bridge

A four day conference began yesterday in Ha Long city, in the northern province of Quang Ninh to discuss an agreement to building a bridge over the Bac Luan River on the border between Vietnam and China.
 
During the conference, the two sides will consider detailed protocols on constructing Bac Luan bridge No.2 linking Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province and China’s Guangxi province, as well as an agreement on simplifying customs procedures between the two localities.
 
Both sides agreed that the bridge will help improve cargo and passenger transport between the two countries and provinces and promote Vietnam-China friendship as well as economic co-operation.
 
The bridge is estimated to be of 618 metres long, with China constructing 463.5 metres and the remainder being built by Vietnam.
 
The Quang Ninh provincial Department of Transport and Communications is the main investor of the VND600 billion (US$28.8 million) project. The money will be raised from State and local budgets as well as other legitimate sources.
