Business Community Picks Metropole GM for Top Recognition
Vietnam’s business community took a moment to applaud Metropole GM Kai Speth for his efforts to uphold the country’s heritage during the Top 100 Business Style Awards 2011, held Jan. 9 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Now on his fifth year as general manager of the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Speth was singled out to receive the annual recognition for preservation of Vietnam’s culture, history and traditions -- one of the top ten awards of the night.
“Managing a historic and iconic hotel that has played an integral role in the history and local life of Hanoi for more than 110 years now, I very much appreciate what history and tradition mean and bring to my enterprise,” Speth told the audience in his acceptance speech at White Palace.
“I feel it is my responsibility to preserve what has made this country so great,” he said.
The trophy was the second of the night for Speth, who also took home a Mark of Respect Award from Business Style Magazine as one of the Top 100 Businessmen in Vietnam.
Created to honour Vietnamese and foreign entrepreneurs working and living in Vietnam, the recipients of the Mark of Respect Award are handpicked by a judging panel from among thousands of candidates nominated by associations and organizations worldwide.
