US$86 Mln to Support Healthcare System
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria recently pledged to fund US $86 million to help maintain achievements made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and improve mother and child healthcare in Vietnam in the 2012-2016 period.
Dr.Nguyen Hoang Long, Vice Director of the Planning – Finance Department under the Ministry of Health, and director of the healthcare project said US $40 million of the funding will focus on training 1,000 doctors and some 6,000 health workers in 15 provinces in the 2012 – 2013 period.
The rest of the funding will be used to improve the capacity of the National Center of Drug Information and Adverse Drug Reactions Monitoring, build a national voluntary reporting system and other works from 2014 to 2016.
