WB, AUSAID Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement
The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the World Bank (WB) recently signed strategic partnership agreement for the next five years, confirming their commitment to support Vietnam’s long-term socioeconomic development.
Under this partnership, AusAID will provide the WB with AUD58 million (US$60.8 million) for the bank's investment and advisory programme to support Vietnam. The partnership aims to foster an enabling environment for improved economic competitiveness, increased environmental sustainability, and broadened access to economic and social opportunities, and to strengthen cooperation between AusAID and the WB in effective development activities in Vietnam.
The proposed engagements are aligned with and directly address the priorities outlined in the Vietnamese Government's five-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) 2011-2015, which is supported by AusAID’s Strategy for Vietnam to 2015, and the WB’s CPS 2012-2016.
