ASOEN Vietnam Celebrates 1-Year Operation

ASOEN Vietnam Office recently celebrated one-year operation of the office in Vietnam in Hanoi. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen attended the meeting.

 

The ASOEN Office was set up in 2010 under the Decision No. 727/QD-BTNMT dated April 19, 2010. It operates under the administration of the National Environment Agency, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

 

The office serves as a bridge of cooperation with ASEAN countries on environment.

 

However, the ASOEN Vietnam Office faces numerous difficulties arising from insufficient resources. It needs to update and store information, summarise information, coordinate cooperation of working groups, ministries, agencies and individuals because of increasing ASEAN environment issues.

 

The celebrating meeting reviewed the ASEAN environmental cooperation in implementing the Master Plan for ASEAN Social and Cultural Community, cooperation with ASEAN to progress towards the ASEAN Community 2015 and implement the ASEAN Charter.

 

Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen said to power up the strengths, ASOEN Vietnam Office needs to quickly provide operational regulations, increase human resources and strengthen links with ministries and branches in international cooperation to promote Vietnam's position in the region and the world.
