Elevated Ring Road 3 Ahead of Schedule
The construction of elevated ring road 3 from Bac Linh Dam to Mai Dich (Hanoi) is being sped up by contractors. This nearly 9-km is the longest and most modern of its kind in Vietnam. The project is expected to be finished sooner than scheduled.
This modern four-lane route is designed for vehicles running at a speed of 100 km per hour, using ODA capital funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and domestic reciprocal capital. This road will help ease traffic congestion during peak hours in the capital city.
The Thanh Xuan - Bac Linh Dam package carried out by Thang Long Construction Corporation has a total length of 3,267 metres and a total investment capital of VND1,376 billion. To date, the package has completed over 93 percent of the workload. By the end of June 2012, the section will be opened to traffic.
The Mai Dich - Trung Hoa package, stretching on 3,757 metres, is carried out by Samwhan and Cienco. The Trung Hoa - Thanh Xuan bid, stretching on 2,070 metres, is implemented by Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd.
Mr Do Quang Minh, Managing Director of the project, said: The three packages will be completed by October 2012, more than 12 months ahead of schedule. The opening of the route will help reduce frequent traffic congestions, reduce traffic costs, and connect local industrial parks and urban zones.
