Acquiring Experience in Effective Public Debt Management

The World Bank (WB) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently organised an international conference on public debt management in Hanoi with the aim of helping Vietnam with better debt management.
 
Speakers presented the roles of sovereign debts in current global economic crises, institutional structures for rational debt management, credit ratings institutions, and public debt management experience in different countries. The speakers are experts of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Thailand, India, Ireland and Standard Chartered Bank.
 
They noted that there is not any formula for mitigate risks of debt crisis. Prudent fiscal policies and debt management strengthening have helped many countries to respond effectively to the latest global financial crisis.
