Vietnam, Austria Agree to Strengthen Exchange of High-Ranking Delegations
Vietnam and Australia have agreed to promote the exchange of high-ranking delegations to foster the bilateral cooperation.
The agreement was made during the talks between Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang and his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer in Hanoi May 29.
The two leaders also agreed to coordinate in organizing activities to celebrate the 40thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2012.
They expressed their pleasure at the fine developments of the bilateral economic-trade-investment ties. Last year, the two-way trade reached over US$630 million, doubling the figure of 2010.
Both sides applauded the organization of the Vietnam-Austria Business Forum in Ho Chi Minh City during President Heinz Fischer’s current visit to the Southeast Asian country.
The leaders urged the two countries to focus cooperation on such fields of clean and recycled energies, water management, and education.
State President Sang hoped that Austria would continue creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese community in Austria to better integrate into the European Union country.
Regarding multi-lateral aspect, both sides pledged to enhance coordination at multi-lateral forums like the UN.
On the occasion, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of a number of cooperative agreements on agriculture, industry, trade, energy, tourism as well as documents for Austria-funded ODA projects for healthcare, fire prevention and fight, and vocational training.
