Nearly Three Million Tourists Visit Vietnam in Five Months

Nearly 3 million foreign visitors came to Vietnam in the first five months of this year, up 17.5 percent on-year, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
 
The number of foreigners to Vietnam for tourism and vacation is nearly 1.75 million, up 16.7 percent; for business, over 508,300, up 21.3 percent; for visiting relatives, more than 522,500, up 18.1 percent; and for other purposes, nearly 166,000, up 13.7 percent.
 
The number of foreign visitors from Russia surged most – 56.3 percent; followed by the Republic of Korea with 45.3 percent; Taiwan (China) 27.3 percent; Thailand 25.6 percent; Malaysia 25.3 percent; Japan 23.6 percent; France 12.5 percent.
 
Russian tourists often come to visit beautiful beaches in the central of Vietnam. From May to October, Da Nang is expected to receive 54 charter flights from Russia, carrying over 12,000 Russian tourists.
 
The number of Cambodian tourists to Vietnam has increased some 30 percent annually in recent years. Last year, 420,000 Cambodian visitors came to Vietnam.
