The 4th European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival in Vietnam takes place from June 8th-17th in Hanoi and from June 15th-24th in Danang City. This event is one of the activities organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) network in Hanoi.

Every night during the festival, audiences can enjoy one European and one Vietnamese documentary on the same theme. With a broad selection of themes, and focusing on the principle of a dialogue between Vietnamese and European documentary films, the organizers wish to present to Vietnamese and international film fans the vitality of documentary filmmaking, which has developed strongly in recent years. Documentary filmmaking has taken its place next to feature films as a genre in itself, with its own codes, techniques, and directors. The worldwide success of documentary films in recent years shows that audiences have truly embraced a "cinema of reality".

Another new feature of this year’s Festival is the “Day of young Film makers” which will be devoted to films by young Vietnamese documentary film makers.
