Vietnam, Russia Promote Investment and Trade Ties
President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vu Tien Loc, recently hosted a meeting with Russia Trade Representative Agency in Vietnam. The event aims to prepare the upcoming State-level official visit by State President Truong Tan Sang to Russia.
On behalf of Russia Trade Representative Agency in Vietnam, Maxim Golikov expressed his gratitude to VCCI for successful cooperation in organising the International Business Forum last November as well as facilitated Russian businesses to cooperate and invest in Vietnam. He hoped Vietnamese enterprises would actively accompany Vietnamese President on his visit to Russia. He also invited Dr Loc to attend Russia Cereal Production Forum in August.
Dr Loc thanked Russian businesses for their interests and promised to bring 50 Vietnamese enterprises operating in mining, apparel, electronics, wood, seafood and other industries to Russia during Vietnamese President’s working visit to seek investment opportunities in the world’s largest nation. However, he also expressed concerns over relatively high investment and labour costs in Russia, and hoped the Russian trade representative agency will assist and cooperate with VCCI to solve this problem.
Also during the meeting, the two sides agreed to hold the Vietnam - Russia Business Forum during the Vietnamese President’s visit to Russia. But, an earlier version will be organised in mid-July in Hanoi.
