More Than 900 Enterprises Resume Operations in July
The General Department of Taxation (GDT) announced that 937 enterprises, mainly privately owned firms, resumed operations in July.
According to the GDT, 21,678 enterprises filed for temporary closure at the end of June but this figure fell to 20,741 by the end of July.
There were 46,818 newly established enterprises registered in July, of which 42,349 belong to the private sector, the GDT reported.
The number of firms posting higher profits before tax in the second quarter rose by 2.5 percent compared to the previous quarter, with the number of State-owned companies in the category increasing by 5.8 percent.
According to a Government report, there were over 663,800 registered companies as of July, 70 percent of which are still in business.
