ASOEN 23 Opens in Cambodia

The 23^rd ASEAN Senior Officials on the Environment (ASOEN 23) was opened in Siem Reap City, Cambodia late August.

 

Nguyen The Dong, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Environment Administration, represented Vietnam at ASOEN 23. The Vietnamese delegation consisted of officials from the International Cooperation Department, the Vietnam Environment Administration under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the ASEAN Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

ASOEN 23 is an annual meeting in the framework of ASEAN environmental cooperation, aiming to review the progress of underway programmes, projects and initiatives in the ASEAN region in the environmental fields like management of coastal and marine environment, nature conservation and biodiversity, multilateral conventions on environment, water resource management, sustainable cities, environmental education, and climate change post.

 

The meeting discussed and proposed initiatives to promote and enhance the efficiency of cooperative activities in ASEAN region, ASEAN +3 cooperation, ASEAN cooperation with dialogue countries, international organisations and cooperation activities the framework of the East Asia Summit (EAS).
